В четверг, 27 сентября, прошли матчи плей-офф Международного турнира на Кубок Президента Туркменистана в Ашхабаде. За путевку в финал россияне боролись с представителями Украины. В итоге победитель матча определился только в серии пенальти. 29 сентября сборная России поборется за 3-е место с командой Таджикистана. Начало – в 9:00 по московскому времени.

- Мы были в достаточно тяжелой ситуации. К тому же соперник сыграл на турнире на одну игру меньше. Кроме того, в связи с прошедшими матчами у нас были определенные сложности с составом: травмированные, удаленные. Но мы правильно построили игру, старались действовать от обороны. Пытались контролировать ход матча. Замечу, что у наших ворот не было создано ни одного опасного момента. К сожалению, организовав хорошие атаки, мы не смогли их реализовать. В целом сам матч провели хорошо, старались, бились. Но сил в серии пенальти уже не хватило. В субботу мы проведем матч за 3-е место. Считаю, что для нас это хороший результат, поскольку мы играем с футболистами более старшего возраста.
